A LITTLE boy was taken to hospital after he was in collision with a car in Waingroves.
The seven-year-old was taken to Royal Derby Hospital with bruising and cuts to his face, and his leg was hurt, but his injuries are thought to be minor. The collision happened in Waingroves at 1.20pm on Friday. Police say the driver of Vauxhall Astra was not at fault.
With the beginning of the summer holidays, Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnershipare urging motorists to watch out for children near the roads. Last year in Derbyshire one child cyclist was killed, 13 were seriously injured and 50 children were slightly injured. Partnership chairman Mike Ashworth said: “We’re also encouraging parents to set a good example when they’re out with their children this summer.”
