Help reunite pupils after 50 years

A number of students who left Heanor Grammar School in the summer of 1967 have been working hard towards a special reunion event.

The reunion of their year group is to be held at Morley Hayes Hotel near Derby on the evening of July 8, 2017.

They have gathered a range of names and contact details but there are still many people out there who have not been reached.

Former student Angie Jones, nee Toplis, is helping to organise the reunion event.

She said: “It’s the usual problem with those baby boomers, they just travelled everywhere, some lived in exotic places, kept in touch with friends for a while, then lost the address, or people married and married names are unknown. So the usual internet searches are problematic.

“Can you help? Do you recognise yourself in either of these photos (1966: Lower Sixth Form year or 1963: third form)? Maybe you have another relevant year group photo in the loft somewhere? Perhaps you weren’t in that year group but you know someone who was and still know how to contact them.”

The reunion team wants to reach people in any of the following groups: those who left as sixth formers in 1967 or as fifth formers in 1965; i.e. those who joined as third formers in 1963 or as first formers in 1960.

Any information would be gratefully received.
