A CHARITY which helps the children of the Chernobyl disaster is calling on people from Ripley and Heanor to help host a child.
The Pinxton and East Derbyshire Link of the Chernobyl Children Life Line is looking for families to care for Belarussian children affected by the disaster over July and August. Belarus was one of the hardest hit countries after the nuclear power plant fallout 25 years ago.
Charity member Tony Ryde, 62, of Leabrooks Road, Somercotes, said: “It’s so rewarding and it’s really fun. The heartbreaking bit is seeing them go back.”
