Fighting the flu in Ripley and Heanor

More people in Ripley and Heanor are protecting themselves from the flu than this time last year, new figures reveal.

Last year 600 people died from flu in the area, and a high proportion may have been avoided if people in at-risk groups had been vaccinated, health providers Derbyshire County PCT say.

Between September 1 and November 13, 67 per cent of elderly people aged 65 or over living in Derbyshire County chose to have their seasonal flu jab – compared to 61 per cent last year.
