PATIENTS have been called on to nominate Derbyshire hospital staff for going ‘above and beyond’ the call of duty.
Health bosses say first class care is provided every day at Derby’s hospitals in lots of different ways – and they want to recognise it and are asking patients and visitors to nominate in our new staff awards scheme, called Pride of Derby.
The award scheme recognises members of staff and volunteers at the hospital who are committed to delivering the highest possible standards of care and demonstrate exemplary performance and outstanding levels of commitment.
A spokesman said: “If someone working at Derby Hospitals has impressed you, this is your chance to show your appreciation.
“Were you particularly happy with their attitude, behaviour and standard of work? Did they go ‘above and beyond’ the call of duty in carrying out their role? Did they give their utmost in ensuring that our hospitals put patients first and take pride in caring?”
They will be presented with a certificate and a personally signed card from the chief executive and their director, but they will also be entered into the annual Pure Pride award, which recognises staff who have consistently gone that extra mile. The overall winner will then be announced at the 2012 Celebrating Success event held at the Derby Assembly Rooms.
The awards will recognise individuals and teams who demonstrate the Trust’s values CARE, which are Compassion, a positive Attitude, Respect and Equality and are at the very heart of care at the hospitals. These values motivate Trust staff to provide for the individual needs of our patients in a compassionate and professional manner and help us to create a positive workplace for our staff.
Derby Hospitals chief executive, Sue James, said: “We have introduced this new award as patients and visitors often want to ensure that the outstanding care they have received is recognised by the Trust. I would urge anyone who has experienced exceptional service at our hospitals to go online and nominate at www.derbyhospitals.nhs.uk/pride. Nomination forms can also be found in many wards and clinics across our hospitals.”
