Cyclists will be armed with the latest technology to help them complete this year’s JE James and Derbyshire Times’s Flagg Challenge and raise as much money as possible for Ashgate Hospice.
The Flagg Challenge 50-mile ride sets off from the hospice at 9am, on Sunday, July 26, with breathtaking views including Chatsworth House and climbs through Sheldon, Birchover and Stanton-in-the-Peak.
And thanks to JE James’s customer and DT reader Stuart Sanderson, a fantastic GPS mapping system is being made available for all entrants’ mobile phones and bike computers.
The 50 mile route includes Baslow, Ashford-in-the-Water, Flagg, Monyash, and Rowsley before returning to Ashgate Hospice.
And an alternate 25-mile ride will also set off from the hospice and goes out towards Ashford-in-the-Water and back.
Ride organiser and DT reporter Jon Cooper said: “We will be providing maps of course but with many thanks to Stuart it will be great to have a GPS back-up for those who wish to use it.”
The GPS routes include directions, distance, gradients and written instructions.
To enter the event and to receive your GPS maps, visit www.ashgatehospicecare.org.uk/events/flaggchallenge/ or via events at www.ashgatehospicecare.org.uk or contact Jon Cooper on 01246 504524 and email@example.com or the hospice’s Charlotte Gratton on 01246 567250 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteer foot marshals and marshal riders are also urged to get in touch to support the event.
The fundraising event’s sponsors JE James have donated a Haibike Q Race SL road bike which will be raffled as part of the Flagg Cycle Challenge. Raffle tickets for JE James’s bike prize are available to buy or sell for the hospice from JE James’s or by contacting the hospice.
