PUPILS from John Flamsteed Community School, on Derby Road, Denby had plenty of fun putting charity and golf together.
More than 180 students from Years 7 to 10 picked up their clubs to take part in the Breast Cancer Research £100 Challenge to raise money towards finding a cure. A fun nine-hole Texas Scramble was held on the school fields, with students dressing up and playing in teams of four. The school was challenged to raise a £100 in total sponsorship but head of PE Sue Linacre said the school doubled its target. She said: “The response from students was brilliant and I am pleased to say we went £100 better and raised £200.”
