Four vehicle crash in Ripley hospitalises pensioner

A 77-year-old woman had to be cut out of a car after a four-vehicle crash in Ripley which shut the road for four hours.

Yesterday, Sunday, October 9 just after 2pm a Mercedes Sprinter van travelling on the A610 Nottingham Road to Codnor collided with a Honda Civic going in the opposite direction and the car ended up in a hedge.

The van then collided with a Toyota Yaris and a BMW.

A 77-year-old woman from Shipley was cut out of the Toyota and she and another person in the same car were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The road reopened at 6pm.

A 31-year-old man from Derby has been arrested for driving over the limit. He has been interviewed and bailed pending further enquiries.
