A die hard Nottingham Forest fan swallowed his pride by wearing the shirt of fierce rivals Derby County to raise money for charity.

Michael Ratcliffe,of Kilburn, raised an impressive £260 for Cancer Research by wearing a Rams’ shirt for the day during the SkyBet
Championship Play-Off
Final between Derby County and QPR, that the Rams lost 1-0 in the dying minutes, which means QPR are promotion to the Premier League.

Michael is a lifelong fan Forest fan, but
after being egged on by friends at the Travellers Rest pub,
in the village, he decided to take the plunge and wear the shirt of his team’s arch enemy.

Looking back at the whole experience Michael said: “It all came about when I dropped a comment to my mates in the pub that you’d never get me in a Derby
County shirt, when they pushed me to do it. I said the only way it’d happen was if it was for charity.

“Obviously it was a tough ask, but people donated plenty of money on the day which certainly made the experience a bit more bearable.

“I’ve taken a lot of abuse from locals since and even more abuse from the people I work with in Sandiacre!

“I don’t think I’ll be doing it again. It’ll take a lot to get me back in a Derby County shirt.”
