Firefighters awarded for achievement

Firefighters from Alfreton were awarded for their 
service at an annual ceremony held this month.

Neil Ormston, from Alfreton Green Watch, and John Lester from Alfreton White Watch were both awarded the 20-year Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.

The ceremony organised by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, was held on Thursday, September 4, at the iPro Stadium in Derby.

Derbyshire’s chief executive Joy Smith, thanked staf f for their dedication to making Derbyshire a safer place to live, work and visit.

She said: “The service thrives on the enthusiasm, professionalism, innovation and leadership 
demonstrated by all of its employees. The awards ceremony is chance to celebrate this.”

Awards were presented by the Queen’s representative in Derbyshire – The Lord-Lieutenant William Tucker.
