Calling all snappers! Readers have just one week left to submit their photographs in a bid to win the Specsavers’ Life Thru the Lens competition.

The closing date is one week today –August 6 – so to win the you need to get emailing in your snaps of Ripley.

The News relaunched our brilliant photographic competition, Specsavers’ Life Thru the Lens last month.

We staged the contest in conjunction with Specsavers of Oxford Street,Ripley, last year and it was a huge success.

So it was a clear cut decision to run it again this year.

And once again we have joined forces with Specsavers to offer a top digital camera, worth hundreds of pounds, as the top prize.

The winner will take home a Nikon SLR camera worth up to £500. The runner up will win a pair of designer specs worth up to £125.

The subject you choose must have a clear link to the town, with the theme being ‘Remarkable Ripley’.

It could be an image that captures our industrial past, a shot of an eye catching green space, local wildlife or even a local sporting occasion.

Once we close the entries, a team of judges will sift through all the brilliant photographs and narrow them down to ten finalists before deciding on the winner.

The judges will be Ashley Booker, acting head of content of the Ripley and Heanor News, and Specsavers store director Kuldip Dosanjh.

Kuldip Dosanjh said: “We want to give local people the chance to showcase their photography.

“We’re not looking for the “usual” Ripley landmarks, but hope that we uncover hidden aspects of the town, that depict its soul.”

All email entries must include: Name, age, address, phone number, when and where was your photo taken?
