Teachers strike planned in Ripley and Heanor

More than 90 per cent of teachers in the Ripley and Heanor areas along with the rest of Derbyshire will be taking strike action next month, meaning many schools will be forced to close.

The National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) and National Union of Teachers (NUT) are co-ordinating action across the country.

The organisations say the walk-out is about protecting education and teachers’ jobs and are planning a day of action on Tuesday, October 1, in Derbyshire.

Ahead of the strike, teachers, parents, governors and children from Derbyshire travelled to Nottingham on Saturday, September 14, to join the Rally For Education
