Junior school celebrates landing top food award

CRICH Junior School has been awarded a Food for Life Gold Award for its nutritious school meals.

The award from the Soil Association also recognises the school’s approach to reducing its carbon footprint and waste and using locally-produced organic ingredients incorporating the highest animal welfare standards.

The School Lane junior school also received the honour for teaching pupils there how to prepare healthy food.

It has been encouraging the seven to 11-year-olds to grow their own vegetables and for getting parents and the local community involved.
