Big-hearted students box clever for charity

KIND-hearted students and staff from Mill Hill School in Ripley have donated 30 charity boxes to a trust that helps people at risk from homelessness.

Form groups at the Peasehill Road school collected everything from toasters and tinned soup to tea towels and dinner plates items for Derby-based Derventio Housing Trust, and the boxes were decorated and put on display.

Jackie Carpenter, strategic development manager at Derventio based in Boyer Street, gave an assembly at the school.

She said: “Can I just say again, how humbled we were by the splendid generosity of the students, parents and carers at Mill Hill School and particularly by the effort that so many people had taken to make the boxes so attractive.”
