From Easter egg hunts to artisian markets - there’s plenty to do in Chesterfield.

Chesterfield Borough Council has organised a list of special Easter activities in the town centre this weekend, March 25-28.

The popular monthly artisan market held in association with The Market Co. takes place on Easter Day, Sunday, March 27, from 10am to 4pm in New Square.

As well as the usual fare of food from local, award winning producers and a wide section of hand crafted items, there will be a series of special Easter activities including:

An Easter egg Hunt where the children can explore the stalls with their parents and collect mini chocolate Easter eggs

Stalls decorated with an Easter theme and traders wearing Easter bonnets to try and win an Easter competition

An appearance by the Easter bunny – children can find him by following the bunny footprints.

Local musician Anthony Fisher will provide entertainment at the event.

On Easter Monday, March 28, the market hosts a table-top sale.

The Pavements Shopping Centre will open from 9am to 5pm.

Major stores will be open during the day and St Mary and All Saints’ (Crooked Spire) church will be offering trips up the tower.

Chesterfield Museum is also open with an exhibition on life in the Victorian times.

Councillor Amanda Serjeant, cabinet member for town centre and visitor economy, said: “The artisan market has proven to be a top attraction and extremely popular with visitors, this Easter there will be a whole host of entertainment on offer for all the family as well as the award-winning produce and crafts.

“Families looking for a day out on Easter Monday can also visit the table-top sale and see the variety of other attractions our town centre has to offer.”
