Dunkirk hit Heanor Town Reserves for six for the second time this season on Saturday in the Central Midlands League Reserve Supreme Division, writes Stan Wilton.

But the Lions were up against one of the strongest sides in the league and, as with the game on the Town Ground earlier in the season, such matches are a learning curve for the young Heanor players, although defeats of this nature are not doing a lot for their ego.

Heanor’s teenagers, who are trying to make their mark in the game, could do with a couple of old and experienced heads in the side to hold them together.

The Lions found themselves a goal down after six minutes when a mistake by Sean Pickworth let in Jevon Seaton to score.

They were level on 33 minutes when Liam Barber restored parity, three minutes after Dunkirk were reduced to ten men.

It stayed like that until the 58th minute when Danny Brennan put the Boatmen back in front, and Heanor were still well in the game until the last 20 minutes when they tired visibly.

Substitute Alex Eliker increased the home lead after 70 minutes and top scorer Macauley Diuk scored twice on 73 and 83 minutes.

Eliker completed the scoring with his second on 78 minutes as Dunkirk scored four times in 13 minutes.
