Police are hunting three vile thugs who broke into a shop and stole booze, cigarettes – and hundreds of pounds for charity.
The unscrupulous offenders broke into the Spar, in Park Road, Heage, sometime between 10pm on Saturday, November 14, and 5pm the following day.
Store manager Thomas Cotton said the thieves broke through the front window, causing £800 of damage.
Once inside they stole around £600 worth of cigarettes and alcohol.
But most shocking of all, the thieves stole four of the charity tins on the counter, including collections for the Poppy Appeal, RNIB and the collection tin to save Heage Windmill.
Thomas said there could have been hundreds of pounds in the tins – especially for the Poppy Appeal and windmill.
Thomas said: “Myself and all the staff were deeply shocked and feel very vulnerable.
“Stealing from anyone, particularly at this time of year is absolutely disgusting.
“But stealing from charities and the local community cannot be tolerated.
“Please help us to ensure these men are brought to justice.”
He provided The News with some CCTV images of the three offenders.
Thomas said: “We understand that these are not the most clear images.
“However, if anyone has any information on these men we urge you to come forward.
“We are offering a reward for the details of these men.”
He added that the men appear to be connected with a silver hatchback vehicle, possibly a Honda Civic.
Police have asked anyone with information on this crime to call 101, quoting reference 49486/15
