Detectives seek Alfreton attack witness

Police are trying to trace a woman who may have witnessed a serious attack which left a man with significant facial and eye injuries.

At around 7.20pm on Friday, March 4, police were called to High Street, Alfreton, following reports that a group of men had assaulted a man at the Blue Bell Inn outdoor smoking area.

It is thought that the 47-year-old was struck with some sort of implement in an unprovoked attack. He remains in hospital.

Witnesses have told police that there was a woman at the scene, using the nearby speed bank, who may have seen something but she left without leaving her details.

Officers would like to speak to her in case she could help the inquiry.

A 22-year-old man from Swanwick has been arrested and remains in custody.
