“The headteacher at the time asked me if I would get involved in the project, I did, and I guess the rest is history.

“It started off slowly and the numbers have steadily grown throughout the years. At present there are around 38 children in the club. Many club members aren’t there because their parents and carers have to work, often it is because they enjoy it.”

“Once they have their breakfast, we play, take part in activities and share stories.”

“I can’t imagine not doing this every day.

“Luckily I am a morning person, it wouldn’t bode very well if I wasn’t!

“The children are like my extended family and I genuinely enjoy spending time with them and listening to their tales and troubles.

Both my children attended the breakfast club when they were young, and now they’re 27 and 32, and I’m still there going strong. I was a pupil at the school and my children were, I have a close connection to it and couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.

“It is such a friendly, village school with an amazing atmosphere.
“There have been many schools that have tried and failed to keep a breakfast club running, so the success of this one if a real testament to the school. and I hope to be here every day until the day I retire.”

The club runs from 8am on weekdays. For more visit: www.aldercarinfants.org.uk.
