A date has been set for the ceremony that will see two Heanor sportsmen awarded the title of Honorary Freeman of the Borough of Amber Valley.
A special council meeting on December 11 will see Amber Valley Councillors confer the prestigious title on paratriathletes, Phil Hogg and Dave Ellis.
Freedom of the Borough is the highest honour the council can bestow on a citizen and is reserved for people of distinction who have, in the opinion of the council, provided eminent services to the Borough.
Councillor Steve Hayes said: “Both Phil and Dave are fantastic role models and we are delighted to be able to honour them in this way. The commitment and dedication they have both demonstrated, is inspirational and their achievements have made the Borough very proud.
“Granting the Freedom of the Borough is something that happens very rarely, and so the ceremony on December 11, will be an extra special occasion which, as a council, we are very much looking forward to.”
Phil claimed fourth spot in the recent World Championships posting the fastest ever by a British tri1athlete. Dave has now claimed Gold in the ITU World Paratriathalon Championships held in London.
