Dan’s plan has backing of the borough council

Hundreds of revellers enjoying a top theatre performance and a picnic in the grounds of Heanor Memorial Park - that is vision of a Codnor actor and director hoping to bring a drama extravaganza to the town.

Dan Webber, who at just 26 has produced and starred in countless plays, including a recent set of performances at Trent Bridge in Nottingham to celebrate the Ashes cricket series, is gathering interest in launching a four-week outdoor theatre spectacle at the newly renovated park.

The performer, who also runs a drama company called Life Theatre Limited, is asking Ripley & Heanor News readers whether they would be interested in the scheme. He said: “We are just trying to gauge if there’s an interest at this stage in an outdoor theatre event next year in Heanor.

“For example at 2.30pm every Sunday in August ,2015, there could be an hour and a half of professional family friendly theatre to come along, bring the picnic, bring the kids and have a good time.”

He added: “But we want people to have their say on the matter - if people contact me and say we want some Shakespeare, we want some comedy, we can book those acts.”

Dan, of Springvale View, Codnor, went to Mill Hill School In Ripley and now runs a number of drama workshops around Derbyshire as well as performing in Birmingham theatre group Life Lines Thinking Theatre. He says the performances would all be staged by local theatre companies.
