Pinxton man admits assaulting bar worker

A PINXTON man has been accused of assaulting a bar worker because he was gay.

Ashley Dale, 22, fired abuse at Stewart Lowe outside the Three Horseshoes after midnight on October 21.

Christopher Reynolds, prosecuting, told Chesterfield magistrates that Dale grabbed Mr Stewart, who was openly gay He spun him around and he fell, banging his head on the ground and sustaining a two-inch cut.

Dale, of Town Street, Pinxton, admitted the assault but denies making any homophobic comments. Magistrates adjourned the hearing for a mini-trial to decide if the attack was motivated by homophobia.
