A PINXTON man has been jailed for more than a year after he sped past police officers on two separate occasions.

Jamie Ellis, 22, from Chestnut Court was imprisoned for dangerous driving after he was seen by police driving at double the speed limit and running a red light.

He was first arrested after being seen speeding by traffic officers on Wharf Road, Pinxton on December 10, 2010.

Ellis was charged with dangerous driving and released on bail.

But he was arrested again on May 20 this year after he failed to stop for police who had seen him speeding and go through a red light on the A38 at the junction with the M1.

Police gave chase to Ellis as he carried on the A38 towards South Normanton, before eventually turning off. He got out of the car and was arrested nearby.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and using a vehicle without insurance.

He was jailed for a total of 15 months at a hearing at Derby Crown Court last Friday.
