New cop comes to Alfreton

A new police officer is on patrol in the Alfreton area.

PC Sharon Evans, who has been a police officer in the Amber Valley area for almost ten years, has become the latest member of the Alfreton Town Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team

She joins Sgt. Simon Street and Police Community Support Officers Tracey Barks and Simon Childs.

Before moving to the neighbourhood team, PC Evans worked in a specialist role to help support more vulnerable victims and residents in the Amber Valley area and during her career she has also worked as a response officer in both the Alfreton and Ripley areas.

In her spare time PC Evans enjoys horse riding with her six-year-old daughter and is busy looking after the family pets which include a dog, two cats, two hamsters and some fish.

PC Evans said: “Joining the Alfreton Town Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team has felt a bit like coming home, as I first started my career in the town. I’m also really pleased to be joining a hard working and proactive team.

“Since moving to the role I have been busy getting to know the local community, at local surgeries and meetings and also getting out and about on patrol. I look forward to being able to target the issues and concerns of the local community.”

The current priority for the Alfreton Town Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team is targeting anti-social behaviour and thefts from shops in the town centre
