An Alfreton man admitted banging on the door of his former partner’s house and sending her emails in a persistent breach of a court order.

Paul Knight of Central Drive had been cautioned for common assault on Kelly Hunter, when a non-molestation order was imposed on November 13.

But at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, District Judge Diane Baker heard Knight, 30, refused to believe his relationship with the mother of his son was over.

He had sent her emails asking her to spend Christmas with him. Knight was arrested after he visited her house on Park Lane on December 13.

He was given a community order for 12 months and ordered to carry out 40 hours unpaid work.
