AN ALFRETON man was caught with amphetamine and cannabis when police raided his home, a court was told.
Officers with a drugs search warrant went to Carl England’s address on September 19 and found the drugs.
They arrested England, 36, and his girlfriend, Teresa Mann, who was on police bail for other alleged drug offences at the time.
Helen Griffiths, prosecuting, told Chesterfield magistrates that £45 worth of amphetamine was seized, plus a small amount of cannabis.
“He said she had a smoke now and again and he didn’t gain financially from that - he just gave her some if she asked him to,” said Mrs Griffiths.
England, of Peasehill, Alfreton, admitted two charges of possessing drugs and was fined £81, with £85 costs, by presiding magistrate Linda Brooks.
Defending England John Last said his client had worked from 1997 until last year when he lost his job in the window replacement industry. “His recreational use of drugs stemmed from unemployment and ‘idle hands’ and he has stopped,” added Mr Last.
Mann, 31, was being dealt with separately for alleged possession of cannabis on the same date.
