Elderley woman’s home in Alfreton is burgled

A 76-year-old woman’s handbag was taken from her kitchen table while she was still in her house yesterday lunchtime.

The victim, of Hall Street, Alfreton, was in her front room when she noticed the front door handle turn at 12.30pm.

She went to see who was there, but found no one at the door. But as she returned inside the home she saw a man run past the back window.

The pensioner got a better view of the man from the front door as he ran onto the road and headed towards Cressey Road, describing him as white, with dark brown hair, wearing a horizontal striped jumper and dark trousers.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police on 101.
