Derbyshire police had filed an application to review the joint licence for The Old Cock Inn and The Association, on Church Street, Ripley.

Earlier this month, it had raised concerns with Amber Valley Borough Council over crime, disorder and public safety fears and a hearing was to be held to debate the issue.

However, police have now dropped their objections following talks with the club and pub.

A Derbyshire police spokesperson said: “Following a meeting with the licence holder of the two premises, in which a number of changes to the operating licence were agreed, the licence review has been withdrawn.

“The licensing team will continue to work with the management and owners of the premises to ensure the ongoing safety of staff and visitors to the businesses.”

A hearing had been due to be held on Monday, December 9, to debate the licence for the two venues.

A statement on the borough council’s website now says: “This meeting has been cancelled due to the responsible authority withdrawing their objections.”

This comes a week after the police took The Crib Bar, also in Church Street, Ripley, to a borough council hearing for a summary review of its licence, triggered by Derbyshire police’s fears over “serious crime and serious disorder”.

This followed an incident involving a customer of The Crib Bar on Sunday, October 27.

The police chose not to show their evidence and dropped plans to review the licence at the hearing on Monday, November 18.
