Court case over text messages

A Riddings dad harassed his estranged wife by sending her unwanted text messages, a has court heard.

The offence took place after David Rathband, 45, had been warned by police to stop contacting her. Andrea Charity, prosecuting, told Chesterfield magistrates.

Mrs Charity said the messages were “not unpleasant but they were a nuisance.

Rathband, of Stewart Street, admitted harassment. Sentence was adjourned until August 8 for Probation Service reports.

His solicitor, Matt Evans, said he had been in a 26-year relationship. “He has been living alone in a flat and not seeing his children. He found the situation very frustrating.”
