Cop copter call out

New figures show that Derbyshire police’s force helicopter based at Ripley was called out to 14 jobs in a week.

Between August 13 to 20, those jobs included three searches for missing people and seven searches for suspects. The others were two calls to help officers on the ground and two searches for vehicles detectives were trying to trace.

On August 18, the helicopter was scrambled to successfully find a lost woman at the side of the A38, near Ripley, and it also helped find three children who went missing on Alport Heights.
