Three confidence tricksters are being hunted by police after attempting to hoodwink cash for bogus repair work in Swanwick.
The men arrived in a yellow van at an address on Gordon Road, on Tuesday, February 7, at around 10.30am, and told the occupant there was a problem with the drains in the area.
They lifted drain covers and used rods on the pipes for a couple of hours, before requesting what police describe as “a large sum of money”, which the men said could be reclaimed from the council.
The alarm was raised when the occupant went to the bank to draw out the money - but the men had fled.
The men had entered the dwelling but it is not thought anything was taken. The trio are described as white and in their 40s, wearing dark clothing and high-visibility jackets.
