Car found torched at Red Lion Square

Fire crews from Heanor put out a fire in a BMW estate car in the town this morning.

The vehicle had been stolen from a home on Derby Road on Sunday night and was set on fire deliberately, police believe.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue was alerted at 1.45am after the BMW was spotted alight in a cul-de-sac near to the Red Lion pub in Red Lion Square.

The Heanor crew used breathing back packs and a water hose to extinguish the flames, leaving the scene shortly before 3am this morning.

If you have any information which could help police track the offenders, call the force on 101.
