Crich Tramway Village appeals for return of defibrillator after it 'goes missing'

The museum and visitor attraction, which is a registered educational charity, acquired the defibrillator following the death last year after it was successful in applying for a public funded defibrillator from the British Heart Foundation.

The device, which is used when the heart has stopped, delivers an electric therapeutic shock to the heart, which re-establishes the normal conduction of the heart’s electrical impulse.

The defibrillator was sited in a cabinet at Crich Tramway Village, but was also made accessible 24/7 so that it could be used by Crich villagers or those passing who were in need.

General manager at the museum, Dr Mike Galer, said: “We noticed that our defibrillator had disappeared from the cabinet during the last week in July, and have notified several businesses in Crich, but so far no-one has come forward with any news.

“We are keen to retrieve it in case of emergencies and would certainly welcome news from anyone who has any information, especially if it has been used to save life.”
