Award -winning dance teachers John and Maureen Dack shared the limelight at a celebration to mark six decades on the dancefloor.
Mr Dack, a retired funeral services manager and his wife, Maureen, teamed up as dance partners 60 years ago.
The couple have since been running dance classes, which are attended by many students from Ripley, for more than 50 years.
A joint celebration took place at the Welcome Hall, Ilkeston, where John and Maureen have been teaching classes for an impressive 35 years. More than 40 dancing enthusiasts were present including oldest member, Hilda Jackson, who was also celebrating her 95th birthday.
A former admin officer for Derbyshire Constabulary and then a florist in Ripley where she lives, Mrs Jackson, who is still driving, laid on a special buffet for those present.
“I love coming to John and Maureen’s dance classes and as well as the company we share, the opportunity to keep fit is an incentive,” she said. There is a real community spirit and the fun and friendship is heartwarming.”
Glasses were raised in a toast to Mr and Mrs Dack and to birthday girl Hilda.The special occasion ended on a high note with a cake cutting ceremony.
New members are invited to join Mr and Mrs Dack’s dance classes at the Welcome Hall in Ilkeston, which take place on Mondays from 10.30am to 12.30pm and on Fridays from 7.30pm to 10pm.
