MIdland Railway - Butterley will commemorate the centenary of the Coronation of King George V on June 25 and 26.
The railway’s only royal saloon, housed in the exhibition hall at Swanwick Junction, is to be decorated for the occasion.
Punters will also get a chance to see the on-going detailed restoration work to the saloon, built in 1912, the year after the Coronation, for the use of King George himself. Volunteer members of the Midland Railway Trust, which runs the railway centre, will wear period costume and answer questions about the carriage, and explain the restoration work. An exhibition about the Coronation and the life and times of King George V will also be on show.
