Cops hail fairs as fun

DERBYSHIRE police would like to thank the public as two popular fun fairs in Amber Valley pass without any incidents of anti-social behaviour.

Thrill seekers attended Ripley and Belper fairs which took place over two weekends in October and November, and both from a policing point of view were a success.

Over the past few years Derbyshire police have dealt with incidents such as under-age drinking, drug taking and anti-social behaviour when the fair has visited the towns, but due to the extra police on patrol they passed smoothly.

Sgt Richard Booth who is in charge of Safer Neighbourhood policing in Belper said: “Extra police resources were allocated to the events as historically there has been a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour.”
