Cop warning as Ripley hit by burglaries

Police in Ripley are urging people to step up security following a number of burglaries in the area.

Since the start of January four homes, two sheds and one garage have been targeted. There have also been four crimes affecting business premises.

The most recent incident happened sometime overnight between Monday, January 20 and Tuesday, January 21. An iPad, cash and jewellery was stolen from a house on Dannah Street. On Sunday, January 19, between 6.30pm and 8.50pm, a set of keys were stolen from a garage on Broadway.

Patrols are being carried out and police are urging residents to report any suspicious activity.

Two people have been arrested and one man charged with burglary, in connection with an incident at Fowlers Music on Oxford Street, overnight between Wednesday, January 15 and Thursday, January 16. Jamie Bowler, 35, of Chapel Street, Ripley, appeared before magistrates in Chesterfield on Monday, January 20. A 33 year-old man remains on police bail. Call police on 101.
