The spirit of Christmas coursed through Marlpool this week at a school’s festive market evening.
Staff and students at Marlpool Junior School put up decorations and adorned their Christmas jumpers to kick-start the festive season with an evening of shopping, singing and Santa.
Local traders attended the event, offering stalls selling candles, plants and reeds, toys and bric-a-brac.
Santa Clause also made a special appearance at the school to hear the children’s Christmas lists.
“He was very busy all night,” said school secretary Melissa Kirkley.
“The whole evening was a success, with many highlights, and everyone who came said it was a nice night. The school was packed from start to finish.”
Other activites on offer included face painting, with the character Olaf, from Disney’s Frozen, proving a popular choice among the pupils.
Parents were also treated to a performance of Christmas carols.
