Chance to have your say on future of towns’ housing

A SERIES of public meetings are being held to ask the people of Amber Valley for their views on housing over the next 15 years.

It follows events in February and March where the public gave their views about local area priorities.

Drop in events have been arranged for residents to have heir say on the size and destination of future housing developments. The events follow three recent plans to create homes in Ripley, Waingroves and Marehay.

Borough council cabinet member for quality of place, Cllr Stephen Hayes, said: “We need to ensure that we make sufficient provision for future development. Without this there is a risk that it could be imposed in locations that have not been agreed at a local level.”

Events will take place between 3pm and 7pm at Ripley Leisure Centre on July 11; The Bridge Street Centre, Langley Mill on July 13; at Peverel House, Codnor, on July 14, at the Old School, Swanwick, July 15; at the Village Hall, Church Street, Kilburn, July 18; at Somercotes Parish Hall, July 19; at the Old People’s Centre, Heanor, July 21 and at Alfreton Christian Centre on July 25.
