Centenary for Old Heanorians

Former students of Heanor Grammar School are invited to a special service to mark the centenary of the opening of the school.

The service at All Saints’ Church, Ilkeston Road, Marlpool, at 11am on Tuesday September 11 is being organised led by old students following a similar service in 1993 to mark the centenary of the original school in Heanor Hall.

The service will be followed by the autumn reunion lunch at Morley Hayes.

Old Heanorians secretary Sheila Randall said: “Although the School officially closed in 1974, members of the Old Heanorians still gather twice yearly for reunion lunches at Morley Hayes, and surprisingly after all these years, there is still a mailing list of approximately 450 old students! In addition to lunch invitations they also receive a twice-yearly magazine, appropriately also called The Heanorian.”

Former students wishing to join the list can call Sheila Randall on 0115 8758393 or email se.randall@ntlworld.com
