Patients in GP practices around Amber Valley are being encouraged to have a say in how local health services are being run by joining a Patient Participation Group (PPG).
NHS Southern Derbyshire CCG, which looks after doctor’s surgeries in the area is hoping more will consider joining the PPGs to help the recently formed commissioning group identify where improvements can be made.
Dr Sheila Newport, Chair of NHS Southern Derbyshire CCG, said: “It’s never been a better time for patients to have their say on the quality of local health services.
“We hope that many patients will join with us in helping to shape and improve health services by becoming a member of their local PPG.
“Patients are in the unique position of being the only people who know what it is like to be on the receiving end of services, which means that they can provide us with vital information on what works well and how services can improve. We are committed to making sure we listen to and act upon feedback from patients and the public.”
Nigel Hallam, Chair of The Park Surgery PPG in Heanor, said: “The PPG has provided the opportunity for the Practice to hear directly from Patients and respond in a patient-focused way to enhance the services provided.
“A positive working relationship has developed between the Doctors and Staff at The Park Surgery and the PPG to improve the patient experience.”
