Chocolate-maker Thorntons has reported a rise in sales thanks to seasonal shopping.
The Somercotes firm said sales increased by four per cent to £60.6million for the year until April 20, compared to the same period last year.
The rise was put down to an increase in sales of chocolates over Valentine’s Day, Mothers’ Day and Easter.
In the trading update, the company said the largest growth was in products sold in supermarkets, which increased by ten per cent.
But conversely, sales at High Street stores fell by 4.1 per cent, a spokesman for the firm said.
Thorntons has closed 24 of its high street stores over the last year.
