Driving school in awards bid

A Heanor driving instructor could be named as the top teacher in the country at an industry awards.

Andy Pearson, who formed Drive Like a Rockstar in 2012 has been shortlisted for a gong in the Golden L Fresh awards which aims to find the top independent instructors in the country.

Nominations are gained by suggestions from the public to the awards organising body. Andy, 37, whose business operates out of Pierced and Proud tattoo parlour in Ray Street, said he was thrilled to be put forward.

He said: “It’s an honour. Seriously. I strive to be the best I can be for every one of my drivers. They put in so much effort on every lesson and I try to repay them by giving them the best I can.”

Former pupils praised tattooed Andy’s rock-styled approach to driving intruction on the awards website.

One wrote: He encourages people to be comfortable with who they are.”
