WORK to redevelop a South Normanton church has ground to a halt after building company Winfield Construction was forced to call in administrators.
The Junction 28 Church, known as The Mission, was knocked down in August last year and the rebuilding work was expected to be finished in September. Services for the 200-strong congregation are currently being held at the Genesis Centre in Alfreton. Rev Brenda Taylor said: “We would like to make it very clear that the church has not gone bankrupt, the reason why redevelopment work on the church has not been completed because the building company has gone into administration.”
The church, based on The Common, has also been targeted by thieves since the build working halted. Administrators are now in the process of reviewing the Winfield Construction’s contracts and disposing of its assets.
