An Alfreton hair and beauty apprentice got along swimmingly with a former Olympian and Strictly star when he visited her salon last month.
Having just returned from commentating on Great Britain’s achievements in the pool at this summer’s Rio Olympics, Mark Foster was thrilled to meet another promising talent—Hair and Beauty at Slimming World’s salon trainee Ruby Molloy.
Mark, who is Britain’s most-decorated swimmer of all time, was in the area for the semi-finals of Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2016 award, celebrating the remarkable weight loss of the UK and Ireland’s top female slimmers .
Ruby was thrilled to meet him, and said: “It was a real pleasure to meet Mark, especially as it gave us the chance to hear about all of the medals we won in swimming at this year’s Olympics.
“Of course we offer treatments that would help the body recover from all that training, like deep tissue massage, so we chatted about that too. My apprenticeship specialises in hair though, so I gave him some good tips to keep his hair in top condition despite all of that chlorine.”
Mark is the latest in a string of celebrities to visit the salon, which is based at Slimming World Head Office on Clover Nook Road, Alfreton.
Already this year, the staff have played host to stars such as athlete Iwan Thomas and footballer Dion Dublin.
Mark says: “It was great to visit the salon. I can’t believe such a high-end place is in the middle of an industrial estate. Ruby seemed really passionate about her apprenticeship, which is lovely to see.
“My presenting career means I spend a lot more time in front of the camera now, so I was happy to pick up any tips on how to look good under all of those TV lights.”
Hair and Beauty is open to the public and has a five-star rating in the Good Salon Guide, prides itself on hosting a warm and friendly environment, where clients can be pampered and made to feel extra special.
