STUDENTS from Selston Arts and Community College have been showcasing their talents by working with a Jacksdale business.

Staff at Jacksdale Garden Centre asked them to take part in a photo shoot to produce pictures for the firm’s website after seeing the teenagers’ work on the college website.

Students Rebecca Stone, Katie Russell and Katie Powell, who are all in Year 9, were briefed by staff at the garden centre about what was needed before they took their shots.

Rebecca said: “It was really useful to put into practise what we had learnt in school about lighting and image composition.”

Photography teach-er Amber Smith added: “I am really proud of the stunning work that the students have produced and the professional way in which they approached the brief.

“It is really motivating for students and staff to have the support of local businesses like Jacksdale Garden Centre.”

Joanna Powell, from the garden centre, also praised the students’ work, saying: “Hopefully this story will prompt others to create worthwhile opportunities for our young people.”
