Burpee challenge raises cash for school defibrillator

Kind-hearted Mark Pickard completed a 1,000 burpee challenge in a bid to raise cash for Coppice Primary School.

The 31-year-old of Mailk Way, Heanor, signed himself up to the task after hearing that the school – where his son is a pupil – were raising money to buy a new external defibrillator.

The school had raised £900 of the £1,300 target but were fundraising for the rest.

Mark organised the challenge at Val’s Gym, where he is member, and trained for only two weeks before the event on March 24. But the sporty bid was a success and Mark completed it is three hours and 25 minutes, raising £900 for the school.

He said: “It was very draining, but I’m proud of myself and want to thank everyone who supported me.”
