A brave Derbyshire and Lincolnshire firefighter has died after battling a brain tumour for five years.
Stefan Hawcroft, 29, of Unstone, sadly passed away on Friday.
In a tweet posted on Friday afternoon, the official account of the Fire Brigades Union East Midlands region said: "Today our thoughts are with the family and friends of brother Stefan Hawcroft, a Lincolnshire and Derbyshire firefighter. During the early hours Stefan lost his battle. All members from across the East Midlands send their love and thoughts. Rest peacefully comrade. #TheBravestMan."
In April we reported how Stefan - who was a firefighter for 10 years - was flown to Mexico with his family to receive specialist treatment after a major fundraising campaign.
The treatment he needed - immunotherapy - is not available on the NHS.
Stefan's wedding to his wife Rebecca had to be brought forward by 18 months because of his condition.
