A MOTHER and toddler group in Heanor has celebrated its tenth birthday with a summer fair.
The Heanor Weenies meet from 9.30am to 11.30am every Wednesday during term time at the Wilmot Street Centre.
Former chairman Rachael Stamp said: “It was set up because there was nowhere that supported mums and toddlers.
“Throughout that time we have grown and now we get an average of 40 to 45 children per week.”
Seven volunteers all help out with the group and play an active role on the committee. Games are played and snacks and drinks are provided. Raffles and sponsored toddles are held to raise funding for the group.
Rachael added: “We hope to go on for the next ten years.”
