Staff and children at the Ripley Nursery School are appealing for the return of a memorial bench after thieves targeted the centre.
The £170 light wood bench was chained and padlocked to the wall outside the nursery, but was stolen between 6pm Thursday, January 13 and lunchtime the following day. The bench was dedicated to former leader of Amber Valley Borough Council, Geoff Carlile, who died in July, 2009.
Cllr Carlile was the chairman of the school’s board of governors for over 30 years. Headteacher Cathy Naim said: “I don’t know why they would think of taking something from a school that serves the community.”
